We Did It!

I feel that quoting Dr. Seuss is appropriate for beginning this blog post:

"Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.  And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go."-~Dr.Seuss, Oh The Places You'll Go!

So, this year our president of the URI student chapter of ALA(Stefanie Metko) set out on a quest.  The URI ALA had been quite dormant for some time and she decided this needed to change.  She saw a vision f a student group that could provide connection and networking options for a Library school in flux.  With a clear vision in mind, she rallied people behind her and began crafting events for which the students could flourish in their desired profession.  At first it was bringing new members to the group, electing a Vice President/Secretary/Tresurer, and then the meetings began.  By the end of this 2012-2013 year we held a conference(just a week ago actually) and now her vision has come full-circle:

"Just found out that Student ALA at URI has WON the Student Chapter of the Year award through ALA's NMRT! Thank you so much for all of your hard work this year. This would never have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our team. Many of you never missed a meeting, and committed to making something happen, even when we had very little to begin with. I can't wait to see what the future holds for each of the Student ALA'ers this year. You are an amazing bunch of future librarians, and I am so proud to have been a small part of such a BIG organization on campus!! THANKS AGAIN!!"- Stefanie Metko

So, to anyone that had a part in our success, thank you and have a Happy weekend!
